Dr. Li Ding’s Jingluo Qigong
Jingluo Qigong is a method of physical cultivation, a form of medicine and a study of the channel system, all rolled into one. It was designed and developed by Dr. Li Ding, a native of Shanxi Province in China, who was trained as a Western medical doctor and as a Chinese medical doctor in the hospitals of Taiyuan City.
One winter, after observing that the people who did qigong everyday got sick a lot less than the people who did not, he became interested in what this form of exercise was all about. This led to many years of research, traveling around China meeting with experts, delving into the many methods of qigong practice and, finally, to the creation of the Jingluo Qigong method.
Dr. Li has always been a clinician, concerned first and foremost with helping his patients to recover or to maintain their health. The Jingluo Qigong method is a form of medicine designed specifically to be implemented in a clinical and hospital setting. It uses the channel theory of Chinese medicine combined with the intention, breath-work and movement of qigong. The goal is to balance the body’s blood and qi, dredge the channels and promote proper circulation to combat disease.
Due to its strict adherence to channel theory, Jingluo Qigong functions not only as medicine, but also as an incredibly effective way of learning and refining the practitioner’s understanding of the channel system.
The North American Tang Shou Tao Association represents Dr. Li and runs programs designed for lay people and practitioners, as well as an instructor certification program. For more information please visit www.jingluoqigong.org.
